I served as the second CEO in a two - year period at the New Hanover Community Endowment. The Endowment is a $1.6 billion fund that works with community partners to solve problems and improve the lives of residents in New Hanover County, North Carolina. Turned around free - fall in employee retention from 33% turnover, lack of internal processes, and negative media relations. Developed "Grants Rainbow" to segment and simplify grant administration. Oversaw strategic plan to create a roadmap to refocus grants on core mission. Recruited, retained and reorganized a high performing team of philanthropy professionals.

For 50 years, the New England Legal Foundation has championed free enterprise in state and federal litigation. As General Counsel and lead executive, I revitalized the organization to defend free enterprise, individual rights, and limited government in New England. Recruited six state - based Advisory Councils of law firm partners and General Counsels. Managed litigation in state and federal courts and US Supreme Court. Created the "New England GC Roundtable" to encourage connection of regional GCs. Conceived of the "Equalizer Institute" for free corporate legal services for underserved entrepreneurs and recruited Dr. Bernice A. King as Honorary Chair. Nearly tripled annual revenue during three years.

Led Rimini Street's global legal team of 60+, supported board, CEO, and global business units. As founding General Counsel, strengthened structure, hired talent, advanced objectives. Lead counsel for medical services provider securing FTC exemption for telehealth. Outside counsel for a health tech firm advancing personalized medicine. Outside general counsel for a cybersecurity company. Helped secure company's first patent portfolio, consisting of more than a dozen patents, in the U.S. and internationally. Creator of the Economical Litigation Alternative — aka the Civil Litigation Prenup — to reduce the costs of litigation by up to 60%. Governor's Chief Legal Counsel
2002 - 2005

Shortly after the 9 – 11 attacks, I was asked by Governor - elect Mitt Romney to lead the 600- lawyer executive branch legal group — supplemented by 130 law firms. I was part of the executive team that transformed a $3 billion deficit to $1 billion surplus in just two years. Oversaw drafting of all the Governor's legislative initiatives, as well as statewide implementation of historic regulatory changes related to post - 9 / 11, marriage equality, and more. Broke 20 - year stalemate in litigation over new runway for Logan Airport and helped resolve labor unrest that threatened security of the Democratic National Convention. Initiated law allowing state lawyers to work across agencies, leading to reduction of outside legal spend, improved bargaining power with vendors, and increased professional development.

Appointed by Gov. Weld to Wrentham District Court. Subsequently appointed by the Chief Justice as Presiding Justice at Wrentham, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, and Managing Civil Justice for Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape & Islands. Invented Smart Calendar, reducing expense and delay of civil litigation by allowing 80% of civil jury trials to start on first date selected by counsel. Recognized with two national awards and implemented statewide. Pioneered use of video conferencing technology in state courts, early adopter of home confinement tech, as well as helped plan and rollout the state's first Trial Court Website. Reorganized workflows for civil justice and probation hearings to eliminate needless steps and improve efficiency.
