As a Principal Technology Partner and Product Manager for Data & AI at BT Group, I led the definition and implementation of the Data & Analytics strategy across global business units, ensuring alignment with next-generation products and key processes in Sales, Service Delivery, and Service Assurance. My mission was to drive the organisation toward a data-driven operating model, enabling advanced AI/ML use cases, promoting analytical self-service, and creating innovative products that enhance customer experience and commercial outcomes. I worked closely with CTIO and business stakeholders to translate strategic vision into a detailed technology roadmap, generating improvement proposals, prioritising investments (CAPEX), and ensuring adoption of new capabilities. I led data and platform engineering teams, driving best practices, DevOps, standardisation, and delivery acceleration. I played a key role in the implementation of the Google Cloud–based central data platform, acting as platform services product owner and supporting multinational BT customers in data-driven pre-sales engagements. Additionally, I led the prototyping and industrialisation of Data/AI products and explored emerging technologies to foster continuous innovation.
I was a major contributor in redefining Three’s Big Data capabilities within the new Transformation Program, leading the technical direction of the Big Data strategy to enable monetisation of both network and business data. This included reorganising teams across onboarding, engineering, and data science, supporting B2B product owners—including IoT—with the technology needed to build new data-driven products, and redesigning the existing Big Data technology landscape on Azure. Within the Analytics and Data Governance Centre of Excellence, I defined the architecture and capabilities required to enable analytical discovery while ensuring IT security and GDPR compliance, and established the foundations for the productionisation of data science models through a flexible, plug-and-play data reservoir architecture, also built on Azure.
I was a key contributor to defining a new company-wide Azure Big Data platform designed to cohabit with SAP-HANA, gathering and prioritising use cases and presenting the strategic Big Data roadmap directly to the Board. I led the design and implementation of the organisation’s Big Data strategy, including the technical architecture and deployment of Big Data clusters, and established a Data Governance framework to support Data Lake and broader Big Data ecosystem adoption. Additionally, I shaped the cloud-based Data Lab implementation strategy and designed and delivered the Big Data ingestion layer based on a Lambda Architecture.
