About Me

Steve Kanovsky is an experienced lawyer and compliance professional with a diverse background encompassing all aspects of drug, device, and life science development, registration, and commercial lifecycle. He has a demonstrated ability to provide strategic, tactical, and collaborative counsel to executive management, in exercising judgment and leadership in a variety of settings and circumstances, and in managing and developing internal and external global teams. He is well-versed in legal, compliance, corporate governance, and regulatory affairs. His broad background equips him with a unique perspective on the global complexities of the healthcare sector and its intricate regulatory framework. He has been a trusted, growth-oriented business advisor in numerous organizations. In addition to pharmaceutical research experience and private practice legal experience, he has over 25 years of legal experience in the global pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotechnology, and medical device industry. Steve recently retired as Deputy General Counsel of GE HealthCare, a leading global medical technology, pharmaceutical diagnostics, and digital solutions innovator, dedicated to providing integrated solutions, services, and data analytics, following a number of global senior leadership roles supporting almost all of GE HealthCare’s operations. Steve has been a director with Neogenomics Laboratories (NASDAQ: NEO), a leading provider of cancer-focused genetic testing services, since 2017. He is currently the chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Compliance Committee. He has been a member of the Compensation Committee and has been a member of or chaired several ad hoc special committees of the Board. Steve earned bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently graduated from Temple University's School of Pharmacy with a master's degree in Pharmacology and Temple University's School of Law with a juris doctorate degree. He also received a master's degree in business administration from Saint Joseph University's Haub School of Business. Steve has been an Adjunct Professor for Saint Joseph’s MBA programs. He is also a co-editor of and contributing author to the Food and Drug Law Institute’s “A Practical Guide to FDA’s Food and Drug Law and Regulation” (Seventh Edition, 2020).
