Experienced & Pragmatic Legal Professional Who Understands the Important of Being a Business Partner

About Me

I am based in Atlanta, Georgia, with over twenty-seven (27) years of expertise in litigation, commercial transactions, corporate governance, and software and technology risk management. Although a construction litigator by trade, my broad experience spans real estate, energy, commercial negotiations, antitrust, cyber, procurement, supply chain, transportation, and technology, including SaaS, software commercialization, and the monetization of data. I am a business partner with my board, C-Suite, and the operations teams. I work diligently to understand my business, the financials, the company's risk appetite, its go-to-market strategy, and its vision (e.g. is it in growth mode, transformation, etc.). I am pragmatic and understand that unless it is illegal, or a compliance/immoral issue, most things are business decisions and my job is to help the business figure out how to get to "yes" and get there efficiently and mitigating as much risk as possible. Most recently, I was the Deputy General Counsel of Smurfit Westrock, a $30B USD Fortune150 company, reporting to the General Counsel but working as a business partner to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) and the Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO). My team and I supported all aspects of supply chain management and information technology, including, but not limited to, commercial transactions from negotiation through dispute resolution and financial reconciliation for all business units and enabling functions, including marketing and communications. As the lawyer for the CITO, I participated in the global IT & Digital transformation strategy, portfolio overview, governance and contracting delivery method across the enterprise. Additionally, my team and I negotiated all SAP RISE Business Transformation contracts. I authored our company's first global AI Policy and created several SaaS templates for use by our business and supply chain procurement professionals. Moreover, I partnered with the CSCO in developing a multi-million-dollar global outsourcing Master Services Agreement to achieve nine figure Source to Contract and Procure to Pay cost savings, which included the integration of the supplier into the contract lifecycle management platform which I implemented, with the support of a twenty-seven (27) people team, to increase efficiency in contract negotiations in technology, software, construction, energy, procurement, logistics, and SaaS deals. Prior to Smurfit Westrock, I was the Executive Director, Global Contract Management for GE's Grid Solutions business wherein I led fifty (50) contract managers (lawyers and non-lawyers) globally in cradle to grave commercial negotiation and project execution, including software and technology. I was responsible for providing on-site subcontract and vendor management, which I successfully accomplished with a highly experienced team of sourcing, procurement, and finance individuals. I want to successfully support my business so our Mission and Vision can be timely achieved to influence profitable year-over-year results.
