About Me
Deborah Maynard, CPHR, MBA
Deborah Maynard is a seasoned Human Resources executive with a career spanning nonprofit, aerospace, manufacturing, and service sectors. Known for building high-performing HR functions from the ground up, Deborah brings a rare combination of strategic vision and operational credibility that organizations can leverage immediately, without the cost or commitment of a full-time executive hire.
As Chief Human Resources Officer at Coast Mental Health, one of BC’s largest mental health and housing nonprofits, Deborah led a comprehensive people function spanning HR, payroll, health and safety, labour relations, training, volunteer services, cultural safety, IT operations, and procurement across 850+ employees and 54 locations. Under her leadership, Coast was recognized as part of Canada’s Most Innovative HR Team for three consecutive years, a reflection of her commitment to building people practices that are both evidence-based and deeply human.
Deborah’s expertise spans complex multi-union environments, HRIS implementation, organizational design, M&A integration, people analytics, and executive team effectiveness. She has navigated significant organizational change while maintaining employee trust and engagement, and she knows how to read a room, build coalitions, and get things done in environments where relationships matter as much as process.
Her international recognition as a Global 100 HR Leader speaks to the calibre of thinking she brings to every engagement. Whether stepping in to stabilize a people function, lead a critical initiative, or provide strategic counsel to a leadership team, Deborah delivers with the confidence of someone who has seen it all and the curiosity of someone who still finds the work genuinely interesting.
Deborah is based in Vancouver, BC and is available for fractional, interim, and advisory engagements.
