I founded Murjis to fill the leadership seats growing companies cannot yet justify hiring, and the gaps larger organizations cannot leave open: General Counsel, Privacy Officer, Compliance Officer, Corporate Secretary and Independent Director. A named operator in the seat rather than an advisor on call. Murjis is a licensed practice, so clients keep solicitor-client privilege, professional liability coverage and regulatory oversight. Everything else about the traditional firm is gone. No timesheets, no six-minute increments, no associates learning on the client's file. Seats are held at published flat monthly fees, from shareholder agreements and commercial contracting through financings and M&A, with transactions scoped and priced flat per deal. The seat is held as an embedded contractor working in-house rather than as external counsel, so counsel works from the client's domain, inside their tools, and sits in their leadership cadence. That is also why the model travels across Canada. I lead more than ten mandates today, alongside two fellow fractional executives, and each mandate has one accountable lead. I built the practice on the corporate, privacy and legal technology experience I have accumulated across retail, e-commerce, health technology, AI and blockchain, and I run it on an AI-assisted stack: machine speed on the first pass, counsel reviewing and approving every deliverable, nothing shipping on machine output alone. First-pass work that once took days takes hours, and the flat fees reflect it. Onboarding takes minutes, not weeks. Every mandate opens with a 30-day legal health check, then playbooks and programs, then the highest-risk gaps closed first. • Provided corporate and commercial legal advisory services with general counsel-level support to businesses and leadership teams. • Advised on corporate structuring, governance, complex commercial contracting, M&A, and regulatory compliance matters. • Supported cross-border mandates involving the UAE, Africa, the United States, and Canada.
As Chief Legal Officer, Chief Privacy Officer & Corporate Secretary, I lead the legal, privacy, and corporate governance functions for a multi-jurisdictional organization operating across Africa. I designed the company's entire board governance structure, compliance program, and privacy program, and I advise executive leadership and the Board on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, and cross-border legal strategy. I also serve as an executive director on certain companies within the group. I designed and implemented a structured network of operating and holding companies across multiple African jurisdictions to support regulated operations and regional expansion. I serve as principal legal advisor on financial services regulation, payments, strategic partnerships, and material commercial arrangements, and play a central role in the group's corporate finance activities. I oversee data protection, privacy governance, and cross-border data-transfer frameworks, and act as Corporate Secretary, supporting board administration, shareholder matters, and corporate records.
