• Business partner. Serving as a business partner and strategic adviser to the CEO and other members of the top leadership team as part of the Executive Committee. Provides insightful focus on capital allocation and critical business levers to drive profitable growth. Actively contributed to the evolution and execution of strategic business plans. Interact frequently with the Board of Directors. • Corporate finance. Play a leading role in refining HLF’s financial structure, balance sheet and capital allocation. Ensure a strong balance sheet by working with the debt and equity capital markets and driving continued de-risking. Manage banking and financial advisor relationships; manage bank credit lines, loans and capital leases. Support enterprise risk management and oversee foreign exchange, and interest rate programs. • M&A. Play a leading role in integration of acquired businesses and creation of overhead efficiencies. Partner with business leaders to support due diligence, analysis, negotiation, deal structuring, and other activities associated with mergers and acquisitions. • Reporting/control. Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports and analysis of performance, variance, and cash flow to the strictest standards of accounting and the law. Ensure the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls. Continually strengthen the global control environment. • Investor relations. Lead quarterly calls with analysts and rating agencies. Craft and deliver messaging around the Company’s financial position, results, and strategy during annual meetings with financial press. • Planning/budget. Ensure that HLF successfully defines, forecasts, and meets financial targets. Provide leadership to metrics, management reporting, financial planning, and budgeting processes. Lead efforts to improve the analytical rigor of the finance team so that business decisions throughout the organization are informed by analytical insight. • Team leadership. Provide leadership to the finance organization, ensuring that the function is properly organized, staffed, developed, motivated, and compensated. Develop career paths that include rotations across finance and other disciplines and utilize best-in-class talent management systems. • Efficiency/process improvement. Strengthen shared services capabilities and business efficiency. Consolidate redundant back-office systems. Continuously examine and implement measures to drive costs out of the business. • Tax. Execute an optimized global tax system
• Providing an independent point of view to strategic discussions and decision-making, in addition to being a leader in creating a long-term financial strategy to support the company’s strategic objectives for future growth. • Co-partner with the CEO, to lead/drive growth initiatives organically and via M&A, through acquisitions, JV partnerships and business development agreements, inclusive of developing M&A strategies, identifying sectors and groupings of companies and screening them against key M&A criteria to develop a viable and actionable deal funnel. • Work collaboratively with the senior management and operations teams, providing reliable advice, accurate analysis, and good judgment while making sound recommendations upon which significant business decisions can be made. • Leadership and oversight of all financial reporting, budgeting, performance management, internal controls, forecasting, financing, risk management (financial and operational), and tax planning • Ensuring that effective accounting policies, processes, systems, and standards are in place which anticipate the evolving needs of the business; oversight of margin analysis, data management and annual audits; maintaining consistent communication with shareholders, and leadership of the team with goal of building to fostering continuous improvement, and learning through coaching, mentoring and encouraging input. • Ensuring discipline and judicious financial management and performance of the business by providing timely, accurate and reliable financial information to all internal and external stakeholders with the most efficient and leanest organizational structure possible • Leadership with regards to Informational Technology (IT) and Informational Software Services (ISS) with a line of sight on accommodating needs from future growth • A hands-on business and financial expert, ensuring the company has the right structure, the right people, the right information, and the confidence and capabilities to achieve its strategic objectives while safeguarding the company’s assets and financial stability.
• Providing executive leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team • Providing strategic recommendations on financing, growth, and operations to the CEO, President, and members of the executive management team • Leading process for all public and internal financial reporting, financial forecasting and budgets, enterprise risk management, and internal controls policies and processes • Advising on long-term business and financial planning including liquidity forecasting and management • Establishing and developing relations with senior management, external partners (lenders, shareholders, institutional equity, private equity, and other stakeholders) • Oversight of all formal finance, HR, and IT-related procedures • Strategic leadership and management of all corporate financings and re-financings, such as bank debt, bonds, convertible debt, preferred shares, issuance of common shares when required, reporting covenant compliance, and management of the corporate operating facilities. • Strategic leadership of corporate Investor Relations team providing senior finance input on structure and strategy • Primary lead on all domestic and global insurance-related activities including broker management, placement and marketing of required coverages, and conducting an annual risk gap analysis to ensure identification of key insurable risks are addressed.
• Executive leadership of the corporate finance, treasury, enterprise-wide risk management, insurance, and FP&A functions • Develop and oversee financial risk management policy including ownership of; corporate and project hedging programs (foreign exchange and interest rate), corporate liquidity management, forecasting, and executive/Board reporting. • Credit risk management addressing and assessing all items related to counterparty credit risk, particularly assessing PPA counterparties and project contractors. • Strategic leadership and management of all corporate financings and project re-financings, such as bank debt, bonds, convertible debt, preferred shares, issuance of common shares when required, reporting covenant compliance, and management of the corporate operating line. • Financing and re-financings activities include: $1B in project financing through bond issuances at a project level, $2B corporate facility re-financings, $400MM project refinancing, and $300MM (2014) and $400MM (2015) in convertible debentures and common equity issuances. • Strategic leadership and management of the corporate Enterprise Risk Management program which includes a continuous evaluation and reporting on Northland’s collective enterprise risks to create a robust risk management framework and culture. • Strategic leadership and management of corporate FP&A inclusive of maintenance of the corporation’s long-term outlook modeling • Member of the corporate Investor Relations team providing senior finance input on structure and strategy • Primary lead on all domestic and global insurance-related activities including broker management, placement, and marketing of required coverages, and conducting an annual risk gap analysis to ensure identification of key insurable risks are addressed. • Assigned as CFO overseeing financial and risk management of NPI’s Energy Trading and Marketing company
