Frank R

Content strategy leader with decades of experience in making complex ideas easy to comprehend.

About Me

I started my career at fifteen at my neighborhood library and I haven't stopped working since. Even while studying I’ve always been employed doing something. I spent my early years in the theatre, eventually walking away from young actor drama and divesting myself of what I considered a toxic environment but keeping the one thing that actually mattered: the ability to grab an audience’s attention and make them care about a story. My professional foundation was built in New York, where I started as the coffee boy at a tech firm and ended up as Head of Customer Support. That wasn't just about managing tickets, it was a masterclass in listening to people, solving their problems in real-time, and keeping a team sane under pressure. After that, I spent a few years homeless on purpose, what would be described today as being a “digital nomad”. I drove throughout Canada, the USA, and Mexico in a massive 1989 Crown Victoria that I kept alive with junkyard parts and sheer stubbornness. I lived on my savings and whatever I could make writing for magazines and websites from the backseat. Being a little guy has its advantages, the back of that car served as a decent enough bedroom on occasion. That period of mechanical survival and freelance hustle taught me more about user experience and resource management than any boardroom ever could. It’s why I eventually moved into content strategy and UX narratives. I don’t just write, I design how stories should be told to achieve an actual impact. I’ve seen how small changes in a message can be the difference between connecting with someone or being ignored. I eventually moved to Spain to ensure my aging parents were well-cared for, and I’ve stayed for the lifestyle and the clarity it provides. Today, my work is about taking messy, complex ideas and distilling them into something human. I prefer a "mission" over a "metric".

Content Marketing ManagerToqio
2022 - Present

I built Toqio's content function from scratch. My role covered every text-driven aspect of the company: Content marketing (website, SEO/SEM, AEO/GEO, blog, socials, owned channels) - Owned end-to-end content strategy and execution, including SEO and keyword strategy based on market and competitor research, shaping site architecture, landing pages, and long-form content. - Doubled organic traffic, reduced bounce rate by ~50%, and increased qualified ABM-driven leads by ~500%. Sales enablement (modular, DIY sales materials to accelerate the funnel) - Created scalable, modular content that salespeople could adapt to specific prospects and use cases. - Reduced evaluation friction and supported faster movement from initial interest to commercial conversations. Founder-led thought leadership (turning founder insights into market narratives) - Worked directly with leadership to translate internal expertise into clear, outward-facing stories. - Positioned insights as market-facing content to support visibility, credibility, and ongoing engagement. Product narrative and UX writing (in-product language, user journeys, documentation) - Took ownership of product language, including user flows, support content, and technical documentation. - Ensured consistency between marketing, product, and support by aligning tone and terminology throughout the user experience. Content operations and systems (structure, governance, scalability) - Built a scalable content system anchored in a Style Guide aligned with the product Design System. - Developed taxonomies, templates, and a central repository as a single source of truth, enabling self-service content creation and reducing production time by ~75% while maintaining consistency.
