Ivano is widely acknowledged as the GCC's foremost experts in the fields of Sustainability, GHG inventories and Carbon Markets. He is Board Director of the ESG Foundation, formerly the CEO of Dubai Carbon and a United Nations senior official before then. He is a subject matter expert in environmental economics and low carbon strategies. Ivano has extensive experience in facilitating economically relevant low-carbon pathways and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). For the past 2 decades, he has aggregated and managed GHG National inventories across the GCC, NDCs and State Action Plans, with a focus on Private Sector synergies. He is part of the UAE Negotiation team on carbon markets at the UNFCCC COP as well as part of the ICAO working group on new market-based measures for aviation, and currently supports the UAE’s input into CORSIA. Ivano is also working with the World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, Partnership for Market Readiness, and the newly launched Task Force for Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets. He is currently finalizing his Doctoral Research on CBAM and EU green legislation. He more recently received his post graduate certificate in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
